I think 90% of fixing a person's Leadership skills to first admit that you have some problems. Once you have found the areas you have to work on it is an easy fix. Most all dynamics having to do with Leadership are first have confidence in yourself. Instill confidence in your Membership and have trust in your membership. And the number one thing is never make it personal. A good leader cannot make the business of running a club personal. The number two rule should always be Treat your Members like you would like to be treated. Take the High Road always and never try to do everything yourself. Trust in the friendships you make that your friends will take the best interest of the club when making decisions. If you try to do it all yourself and control all things you will burn out and make others feel you do not trust their judgment. For me this venture into Corp. America has been enlightening although I have been an elected head of a MC group on for over 20 years being voted in every year I have found some flaws in my own leadership. I am excited to see how fixing these flaws will make my Leadership a more exciting and pleasurable experience. I was going to put up some links to sites that can help with Leadership skills but after a few days of research it just seems to me most of the tools we need are in our hearts and our minds. Well that's my way of looking at things remember a Good Leader is only as good as the people he surrounds himself with. And there are no Great Leaders without Great Members. Lord Battista |
