Oh! How she cries,
Sobbing cocooned in white lightening pain,
Trying to mend broken trust by herself,
In vain…
My Eagle has flown from his loving nest,
To another's lair, for now, holding her
to his chest.
Forsaking all the hope of a future so bright,
While he allows his little dove,
To suffer…
During times of their delight.
How could he not see her devotion, so pure?
Given so freely,
Joy brought into his life?
Worthy of his protection,
Not stabbing her soul with this deceiving knife.
Somehow she must let him go,
Her love, her beloved one…
Again the blinding light closes her eyes
A river of tears attempting to wash away cruel lies.
Now his dove must test her own wings,
Fly to the horizon and out of his sight
Remembering, she tried to fight for what was right.
Knowing on their last day on this earth
She will be in the arms of one deserving of her worth…
While he lies alone and cold,
Remembering his younger one,
He did not choose to own.
Knowing she would have been there to kiss his dying lips for the
last time
Instead he listens to his Mother's clock, ring out its chimes…
Running from one to another has taken its toll,
A life without promise to have and to hold…
Oh! How it could have been so different,
Had he not his soul
Sold.
Had he allowed them to fly…
To drink of love's promise
Have her soar by his side
His dove would have put all his fears to rest
For she did
have an Eagle's strength,
To pass this invisible test.
Now, tears of longing are his alone to dry…
If only, if only, if only…
His heart…
Had allowed him to fly.
